About Us:
Ever wanted to ride on a real fire truck, wear a helmet, coat, and boots. Be on the end of a fire hose spraying water, climb a ladder, wash and shine a fire engine, hang around a fire house watching TV, or playing a game waiting for the alarm bell to sound?
Well, we do most of the above but the alarm bell won't really sound for us... You see, we are a group of hobbyists who collect real working fire trucks that have been retired from the fire service. These fire engines are still fully functional and we do many things with them. Such as:
* Parades
* Demonstrations for the public (Education)
* Rides
Events:
Burnsville Fire Muster
Dakota County Fair
Governors Fire Prevention Day, MN State Fair
Partnership with Dakota City Heritage Village
Support the Bill and Bonnie Daniels Fire Museum
WWII Reenactments, Dakota City Heritage Village
Community Parades and Activities
Who Would Be Interested In This?
1) Retired fire fighters: who would still like to be around fire engines, working with them, and enjoyed riding on the trucks. Many old memory's can be brought back to life this way.
2) Someone who always wanted to be part of the fire service: but for one reason or another didn't have the time because of family, or other commitments.
3) Scouts / Explorers / Boys and Girls, Ages 14-21: Do you have an interest in the Fire Service, Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Fire Safety, Traffic Safety, Radio Communications, or Safety? Some of our members are Merit Badge Councilors and Instructors. We have many opportunities where you put on actual fire gear, work hands on and ride the fire trucks, participate in scenarios and demonstrations, Learn Leadership and Personal Responsibility, Past and Present Operations in the fire service.
Time Required:
Volunteer as much or as little as you want. At the most, we do around three events per month. Spring, Summer, Fall.
Activities Include:
Connecting the trucks up to fire hydrants, Drafting water from a lake, stream, or pond. Raising ladders, Responding to make believe fire calls/runs, Truck maintenance, Demonstrations at public events (education), Parades.
Equipment:
Currently, we have twelve operational fire trucks that range in age from 1935, through the 1990's.
